Program
Distance: 7.5 km – Duration: 4 hours – Elevation Gain: ↑ 565 m ↓ 565 m
We start from the historic center of Nago, where the charm of the village blends with history. We cross the vineyards surrounding the village and take trail no. 601, which runs above the famous climbing cliffs. The path leads us along the Austro-Hungarian defensive line, an open-air museum where we can explore barracks, rock-carved tunnels, gun positions, and trenches. We reach Malga Zures (1,100 m), once a strategic outpost of the Austro-Hungarian army. Here, among clearings and forests, we relive the history of the battles that took place here in 1915. Not far away, we can visit the small military cemetery, a place of remembrance that tells the harshness of the conflict.
After a refreshing stop, we begin the descent along trail no. 632, an ancient mule track that offers a unique perspective of the impressive Nago rock faces, spectacular rock formations that dominate the valley. The return to the starting point concludes this journey through nature and history.
